Pixy Liao Interview Response

She’s been using him as a prop in her photos for twelve years. There’s something intriguing about the idea of even doing a project for twelve years straight. And what’s even more intriguing is that she is exploring the changes in her and her boyfriend’s relationship, and it co0mes through in her photographs. Her photographs are intriguing because there’s a lot of loaded imagery and visual allegories happening in them. A lot of her work has her and her boyfriend posing in them and exploring this kind of power dynamic, but they connect to the viewer in a very real way. One way that they connect to the viewer that this photograph is a posed photograph for others to look at is the fact that you can see a wired shutter release in a lot of the photos that trails off the image plane towards the viewers. fireworks/ soft focus

These have nothing to do with class, someone near me just happened to light up a bunch of fireworks. I thought I'd try shooting some of them out of focus or with soft focus. Most of the exposures were around five seconds.
